19th December 07
The band has been so busy that this is the first opportunity I have had to update the website.
Our debut performance at the Eastwood christmas lights switch on was throughly enjoyed by all. A large crowd gathered to hear the band play a selection of christmas tunes and the applause was amazing. Thanks to the people of Eastwoods generosity, out tombola stall raised just over £300. Thankyou to all who supported us on the night and to everyone who contributed to our stall.
The Mayors Civic Service was another success for the band. We played a medley of Christmas tunes during the service and the band was photograped for the local papers with the Mayors of Eastwood and Broxtowe.
Wednesday the 12th was a time for us all to relax, celebrate and have fun. We held our very first presentation and Christmas party at the Victory club Eastwood. Over 90 friends and family attended the evening which was entirely funded by band members and their familys. Special guests handed out certificates of achievement to band members and our new colours (flag) was presented to the band. A karaoke and disco was enjoyed by all including our chairman! A raffle held on the night raised over £60. Special thanks go to the Victory club for the use of the concert room free of charge.
Tuesday the 18th saw the band give a voluntary performance for the residents of Phoenix Court, Hilltop, Eastwood, as a suprise addition to their Christmas party. The residents enjoyed the selection of christmas tunes we played for them and provided the band with a lovely spread of sandwiches, cakes and refreshments and introduced the younger band members to the fine art of card bingo! The residents then suprised the band by handing over the proceeds of a collection they had organised while the band had been playing outside. Thankyou to the residents of Phoenix Court for your hospitality and generosity, we hope to see you all again in the near future.
This thursday, 20th december will see the band perform at Greasley miners welfare club. This will be the bands last Christmas performance for the year before having a two week break. I would like to wish everyone a very merry christmas on behalf of the Eastwood Phoenix Band.
Looking forward to a prosperous and productive New Year.

The band held an extra practice night this wednesday in preparation for the christmas light switch on event. We recieved a lovely suprise visit from the Mayor of Eastwood and his wife Hazel, the Mayor has requested the band to play at the Christmas Civic Service at St Marys Church Eastwood on sunday 9th December. The whole band are honoured to recieve this request. We would like to thank Eastwood town council again for the use of the bowling pavillian and also a very big thankyou to Wayne, who looks after us all night (we promise you wont have to put up with the christmas tunes much longer Wayne) and has become a great friend to the band.
This week has seen our fund raising go into over drive. Donations to our tombola stall have been pouring in thick and fast. Allprint (Nottingham) limited have made us a banner, please check out our photo album, supporters and links page. The whole band would like to thank Allprint for this very generous gift.

The band attended the rememberence day service at St Mary's church Eastwood and took part in the parade. We appeared in two local papers this week, the Nottingham Evening Post and the Eastwood and Kimberley Advertiser. These two press releases have bought offers of help for the band and possible new members. We are also in the process of applying for grants to help us buy our uniforms. The parents of the band members have offered to donate funds towards the purchase of embroidered polo shirts which would be used until a full uniform can be purchased. A big thankyou must go to the local stores in Eastwood for their very generous contributions to our tombola stall, every penny raised will go towards our uniforms.
7th November
After recovering from the halloween party (keep eyes peeled on photo album for pictures comming soon) the band has gotten back to work. we have been busy collecting donations for our tombola stall from the local shops in Eastwood (check out the supporters page). We have less than 2 weeks left before our debut performance so extra practices have been pulled in. The whole band will be attending the rememberance day parade to pay our respects, hopefully in future years we will lead that parade. The band will be helping the council deliver leaflets for the Christmas light switch on this week as a way of thanking the council for all their help and support they have given to the band.
23rd october.
The whole band has been working hard in preparation for our debut performance at the Eastwood Christmas Lights Switch On Event. Members of our committee have attended the past two meetings for the christmas lights and the band have made a donation of childrens gifts to the council, who will in turn pass them on to santa! Salinger Opticians have granted us permission to use their forecourt on the night, where the band will be performing christmas tunes at 7.30pm and running a tombola stall throughout the nights events.
A very generous gift of 30 plus brand new hats were given to the band by Mr Billy Mundell. We hope to see a lot more of you and your family Billy in the very near future. You will all be made very welcome at band practices.
